I received the following email from the Marina.

Thank you so much to all the wonderful people who sent words of compassion and strength this past month. You have no idea how much I appreciate the support!

The Marina has managed to stay open throughout this crisis with the hopes it would be a recipient of the Payroll Protection Plan. Our application was submitted, but the government ran short of funds before they got to us. With the new round of funding in progress, hopefully we will hear soon that we are approved and I will get some much-needed relief.

I made a commitment to everyone the day I bought The Marina to do everything possible to stay open year-round, and for the last three years we have maintained that commitment. We are now at the time of year which should be turning a profit and helping to build cash flow for the upcoming slow months – but we have this crisis, which has prevented the business from being able to operate with any kind of normalcy. I have maintained being open the past month with personal funds and can no longer do such. It makes no sense to operate at 10 to 15 percent of regular sales. As much as I want to accommodate my patrons, it has come to the point I cannot.  That being said, The Marina will not open this Thursday as it normally does each week. This was not an easy decision, but it is in fact, a necessary one.  The Marina will remain closed until restrictions are reversed and we can enjoy food, drink and entertainment on site, or until some sort of federal funding becomes available to us.

I will continue to have fuel, which is operational at the pump 24/7, with a Mastercard or Visa. American Express and Discover are NOT available for use at the gas pump. We currently have our winter blend fuel, which is the good stuff, Non-Ethanol Premium (91+Octane).

The phones from The Marina will be forwarded to my personal cell and I will do everything possible to answer every call. We will also have an attendant on site Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 11 am to 5 pm. This person will be able to assist with fuel, take an American Express at the front register, sell ice and cold drinks, etc. – but there will be no food and no alcohol.

Thank you to everyone for your patience and support. Hopefully, I will see you all as early as next week!
