Re: RESERVATION AND PARK ADMISSIONS POLICY GUIDANCE DOCUMENT

THIS DOCUMENT SUPERCEDES ALL PRECEDING MEMOS AND GUIDANCE REGARDING THIS SUBJECT.

Reservations may be made 60 days in advance, in person or by telephone, to the District office during business hours of 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Monday thru Friday.  If the 60 day period falls on a Saturday or Sunday, the reservation may be made on the following Monday during business hours.  Any calls left on voice mail on Friday after 4:30 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, or on Monday before 8:30 a.m. will be logged, but not returned.

Reservations require a 3-night minimum, but customers are encouraged to pay in full. If they only want to send in the 3-night minimum, accept it and the Camp Host or Lake Patrol will collect the balance when they arrive.  Please advise all customers that the balance of their reservation is due at the time of their arrival.  Reservations are not confirmed until payment of at least the 3-night minimum is received in this office. No reservation tags are put out until the reservation is confirmed.  Reservation will be canceled if payment is not received in this office within seven (7) days of date reservation was taken.  On the morning of the seventh day, a courtesy call will be made by District personnel to the number provided on the reservation.  If contact is not made that day, the reservation is canceled.  If contact is made, the customer will be allowed three (3) additional days to get the payment to the office.  If payment is not received by the end of the third day, the reservation is canceled.

The cutoff date for taking a reservation by telephone is by close of the business day on Tuesday the week prior to the week of the reservation (Sunday thru Saturday).  Payment for this reservation must be received in this office by Friday of the week prior to the week of the reservation.

If the customer comes into the main office and pays for a site, we will accept the money and notify District personnel to place a reservation tag on the site.  If absolutely no one is available to put the reservation tag out, let the customer know that if someone occupies the site in question before a tag can be put out or they arrive at the site, they will have to camp on some other non-reserved site or the District will refund their money.

Let customers know that they can park on any non-reserved site and the Camp Host or Lake Patrol will collect, but sites are not reserved unless they  follow the required reservation procedures.  If customers drive in without a reservation and then pay in advance for multiple days on the site, that payment is non-refundable, unless they can provide a 7-day notice, as the District is unable to sell that site to another customer.

Holiday reservations (Memorial Day, Independence Day and Labor Day holiday weekends) must be paid in advance for all days that are reserved, not just the 3-night minimum. Any cancellation for a holiday reservation must cancel the complete reservation.  There will be no partial cancellations for a holiday reservation. Customers may reserve no more than 3 RV sites per reservation / person or per telephone call for the Memorial Day, July 4th, and Labor Day weekends.

Only one camping unit (RV, Travel Trailer, Pop-Up, Tent) is allowed on each RV pad.  Additional tents or small campers (pop-ups) are allowed on an RV campsite in addition to the original camper as long as space allows for it and it does not interfere with the neighboring sites.  These additional tents or small campers will be charged the rough camping rate of $10.00 per night per unit in addition to the regular campsite rate.

Reservations are not taken for picnic or primitive areas, first come first serve. Camp Host or Lake Patrol will collect. Any kind of camper (pop-up, travel trailer, RV) that is not on an RV pad is considered rough camping and is $10.00 per night per unit.

Tent camping next to shelters is allowed at $10.00 per tent per night. No campers are allowed next to shelters, as the electrical service is not sufficient to support them.

The definition of a tent, regardless of size, is if it has a bottom, it is considered a tent and is charged the rough camping rate of $10.00 per night.  If it does not have a bottom it is a canopy and there is no charge for it.

Reservations for the Pavilion may be made up to 6 months in advance.

Reservation cancellations for refund or rescheduling require a 7-day notice. No exceptions.

Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts camp free in primitive areas in all parks and the use of the Pavilion is free. Scouts may use tents in the Pavilion area, but no campers are allowed.

Failure to comply with these directives will result in disciplinary action up to and including termination.
